Infineon further extends its global leadership in the automotive semiconductor market

Munich, Germany – 13 April 2026 – Infineon Technologies AG (FSE: IFX / OTCQX: IFNNY) has once again proven to be the world’s leading automotive semiconductor supplier. According to the latest market analysis published by TechInsights [1] for 2025, Infineon achieved the number one market position for the sixth consecutive year and further extended its lead over key competitors, confirming its standing as the preferred partner in the rapidly evolving automotive industry.

“Our persistent number one position in the automotive semiconductor market demonstrates
our strong customer commitment and ability to address the key trends toward software-defined vehicles and drivetrain electrification” said Peter Schaefer, Executive Vice President and Chief Sales Officer Automotive at Infineon. “The extension of our leadership in strategic domains such as microcontrollers underlines our innovative strength. Confirming our top one and two positions across all key regions clearly shows the trust placed in us by our partners globally.”

Global market leadership with a strong footprint across all key regions

According to TechInsights, the global automotive semiconductor market grew to 74.4 billion US dollars in 2025 (2024: 69.9 billion [2]). Infineon, which climbed to the top spot in the market for the first time in 2020, achieved this leading position once again and reached a market share of 12.8 percent (2024: 13.2 percent [2]), slightly increasing the distance to the second-placed competitor in the market.

This success is based on a strong footprint across all important automotive regions in the world: In China, the world’s largest automotive semiconductor market, as well as in Europe and South Korea, Infineon confirmed its regional market leadership, increasing the distance to the second-placed competitors in Europe and China. In North America and Japan, the company came in second and significantly narrowed the gap to the respective market leaders.

Further growth in microcontrollers reflects commitment to automotive innovation

In the strategically important domain of automotive microcontrollers, Infineon extended its leadership significantly once again. The company’s market share rose to 36.0 percent in 2025 – up 3.9 percentage points year-on-year, further widening the gap to the next competitor.

Microcontrollers play a decisive role in key automotive innovation areas. Among other things, they ensure precise and efficient operation of electric drivetrains, enable safe and secured real-time decision-making in advanced driver assistance systems and automated driving and are cornerstones in the electric/electronic architectures that allow software and feature updates in software-defined vehicles.

Since 2020, Infineon has consistently held the top global position in the automotive semiconductor space, underpinned by a clear focus on system innovation and the ability to deliver to the needs of carmakers and Tier 1 suppliers across all continents. The latest TechInsights data confirms Infineon’s strong performance and ongoing market leadership through cycles of technological transformation.
