Vicor wins the Best Technology Practice Application Award 2025 for BCM6135™ bidirectional DC-DC power converter

Game-Changing Module Recognized for Transforming Automotive Electrification and Enabling Active Suspension System Innovations

Andover, MA – November 18th, 2025 – Vicor Corporation today announced it has won the Best Technology Application 2025 Award given by Gasgoo for its BCM6135 DC-DC Bidirectional Power Converter Module. The prestigious award celebrates innovative product design and application with a significant impact in the automotive industry.

The BCM6135 is a fully functioning 800V (High Voltage) to 48V (Safe Extra Low Voltage – SELV) DC-DC converter that provides up to 2.5kW of power from a compact 0.015L module weighing only 58g. It was recognized for solving decades-old power challenges by offering the most power-dense and fastest DC-DC converter in the automotive industry today.

Unmatched Performance and Innovation

BCM6135 is the only DC-DC converter for HV-to-SELV that utilizes Vicor’s proprietary Sine Amplitude Conversion (SAC) technology. This patented zero voltage switching method delivers symmetrical switching speed, efficiency, and transient performance.

Key performance benefits praised by the industry include:

“The BCM6135 is transforming eMobility and enabling breakthrough innovations in automotive electrification,” said Greg Green, Director of Vicor Automotive Marketing. “This module allows OEMs to not only reduce power system volume by nearly 50% but also remove the 48V battery altogether, increasing vehicle range and performance. Winning this award validates our team’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of power conversion technology.”

Enabling next-generation vehicle systems

The BCM6135’s performance has a critical impact on next-generation automotive applications, including active suspension power systems. Its high slew rate and symmetrical power handling enable optimal energy recuperation, allowing over 90% of the power taken from the battery for suspension actuation to be returned to the main battery.

Mr. Peter Li, Research & Development Director at Hongfa, noted the significance of the technology, stating, “When it comes to active suspension, our OEM customers require a DC-DC converter with a response rate measured in milliseconds, otherwise, additional battery support is needed. Vicor’s BCM6135 power modules enable the competitive performance we need. Vicor power modules not only deliver the performance we need but they also significantly shorten our development time and have made designing this type of system much easier for us”.

Figure 1 Vicor power modules are essential to helping design the smallest and lightest active suspension system on the market by combining a 48V architecture and high-density DC-DC converts (BCM6135). Four Vicor fixed-ratio BCM6135, 800V-to-48V DC-DC bus converters are used to convert high voltage to 48V and route power to each wheel. The BCM6135 is bidirectional and provides the fastest transient response of any DC-DC converter. This symmetrical switching speed enables optimal energy regeneration when directly linked to the DC-DC converter.

The unique combination of features in the BCM6135 is also allowing customers to:
