Axiro Semiconductor Marks One Year, Delivers Millions of Chips and Builds a Global Company from India

Bengaluru, April 9, 2026: Axiro Semiconductor Private Limited has completed one year of operations, marking a defining phase in the company’s journey to build a globally competitive semiconductor enterprise rooted in India.

In its first year, Axiro has expanded its research and development centers globally and shipped chips in the millions, establishing itself as one of India’s leading suppliers to the defence, aerospace, and wireless infrastructure markets. The company has built a portfolio comprising hundreds of intellectual property (IP) assets and has developed deep capabilities in both silicon and gallium nitride (GaN)-based technologies to serve global markets across wireless and satcom applications.

The milestone comes at a time when India is accelerating its transition from a services-led economy to one focused on high-value design and product creation within the global semiconductor value chain. Companies developing chipsets for next-generation wireless technologies, including RF front ends for 5G and emerging 6G, beamforming capabilities in satcom and defence are playing a critical role. Axiro is positioning itself as a key contributor, not only domestically but across global markets. Looking ahead to FY27, Axiro aims to expand its product capabilities into fixed wireless access (Wi-Fi), drones, and radar markets.

Amitesh Sinha – CEO, India Semiconductor Mission: “India has a unique opportunity to build globally competitive semiconductor capabilities by leveraging its strong design talent and growing innovation ecosystem. The focus is on creating scale, driving innovation, and building intellectual property that can serve global markets. Companies like Axiro represent this momentum, reflecting how Indian firms can evolve into significant players in the global semiconductor industry”

Vellayan Subbiah – Executive Vice Chairman, Tube Investments of India; Chairman, CG Power and Chola Investment and Finance Company: “There is a clear shift underway globally, with gaps emerging in the fabless semiconductor design space and this presents a defining opportunity for India. To truly capitalise on this, we must move beyond our comfort zones, invest in building world-class capabilities, and scale with ambition. Our goal should be clear: to build companies that can stand among the top semiconductor players globally, and Axiro is taking meaningful steps in that direction.

Sunita Verma, Group Coordinator, R&D Electronics, Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology: “India has a strong foundation of design talent, and the next phase is about translating this into complete, end-to-end semiconductor products and globally relevant intellectual property. Through the India Semiconductor Mission, we are focused on enabling industry, academia, and startups to work together and build this capability. Companies like Axiro represent exactly this shift — moving from participation to leadership in the global semiconductor value chain

Naveen Yanduru, CEO, Axiro Semiconductor: “The semiconductor industry rewards focus, discipline, and long-term thinking. At Axiro, we are building with that mindset — strengthening our core capabilities in design and IP while expanding our presence across global markets. Our ambition is clear: to evolve into one of the leading fabless semiconductor companies, driven by innovation, execution, and scale”

Axiro’s operations span India and key international markets, with active engagements across a growing base of global customers, leading foundry partners, and OSAT ecosystems. The company’s ability to serve defence and aerospace sectors where performance and reliability standards are uncompromising, reflects the depth of capability Axiro has built in a short period.

Axiro is committed to contributing to the development of India’s semiconductor ecosystem, particularly in design and IP creation, through its active participation in the India Semiconductor Mission and related national initiatives. The company is focused on building deep, indigenous capabilities across the semiconductor value chain from advanced design to product development, while fostering collaboration with ecosystem partners including academia, research institutions, foundries, and OSAT players. Through investments in talent, R&D, and global partnerships, Axiro aims to strengthen India’s position as a hub for high-value semiconductor innovation and enable the country’s ambitions of becoming a self-reliant and globally competitive player in next-generation electronics and connectivity technologies.
