  • It is a sensor that is used for detecting purposes, it detects the presence of a person and animal to control light, and temperature by using an infrared sensor, ultrasonic sensor, and microwave technology.
  • The occupancy sensor also saves energy consumption up to 50% and it is an automatic control device by uses different sensor technology.
Occupancy Sensor

Working of Occupancy Sensor

  • An occupancy sensor triggers an automatic reaction in the building system by using different technology, this technology represents of body.
  • The occupancy sensor senses the presence and then turns ON the light and if there is no one in the space area then it turns OFF the light, so it consumed less power.
  • We use different techniques which work on their technique like ultrasonic sensor technology emitting HF sound waves for listening to reflected sound and it can cover a large area.
  • The PIR sensor senses the heat emitted by the human body, this sensor is active when they detect a change in an infrared level like a warm object moving in the sensor area.
  • Microwave sensors detect occupancy by emitting microwaves and analyzing the reflected waves. They can also detect whether a person is moving toward or away from the sensor.

Applications of Occupancy Sensor

  • An occupancy sensor is used in indoor places like homes, offices, building area, etc. for activating or deactivating electric lighting.
  • It is also used in hospital areas when the space area is empty then it is assumed that there is no movement that can be detected, so the sensor turns OFF the light.
