ECMS Response Doubles Targets, Building on SEMICON India 2025 Buzz
IESA Hails Industry and Government Confidence in India’s Electronics Growth
The response to the Electronics Components Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS) has been truly extraordinary — with investment proposals worth ₹1.15 lakh crore and commitments to create nearly 1.41 lakh jobs, the industry has shown strong confidence in India’s electronics growth trajectory with strong support from Central and State governments.
IESA and SEMI congratulate the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) on launching this landmark scheme, which not only strengthens India’s electronics manufacturing ecosystem but also complements the country’s semiconductor policy framework by driving higher domestic value addition.
IESA has been actively engaged from the policy-discussion stage to the formal launch by the Hon’ble Minister on 26th April 2025. At the launch, IESA outlined a FIVE-pronged strategy for ECMS promotion and execution, focusing on: international collaborations, state-level partnerships, deeper engagement with distributors, support for EMS and OEM industries, global promotion of India’s policies, and alignment with semiconductor sector initiatives. These efforts are aimed at empowering MSMEs, strengthening value chains, driving technology adoption, and enhancing ease of doing business.
The proposals span across a wide spectrum of component categories — including Passives, modules, PCBs, displays, Camera, casings, Battery Cells, and more — effectively capturing the end-to-end requirements of electronics manufacturing inputs.
The overwhelming response — with proposals nearly twice the original targets — is a clear signal that India is well on its way to becoming a global hub for electronic components manufacturing. This complements and adds to the major buzz in the semiconductor and electronics industry created by the SEMICON India 2025 event held last month.
IESA and SEMI remain fully committed to working with government and industry to ensure that these proposals translate into tangible manufacturing growth, sustainable job creation, and a resilient ecosystem.”
