Würth Elektronik ICS presents 6 Way Symbol Cluster CAN

Niedernhall (Germany), 13 January 2021 – Würth Elektronik ICS has complemented its product portfolio of human machines interfaces with a new, compact and easy to install symbol cluster with customisable front-end design. It can be used in commercial vehicles and mobile machines for indication of vehicle’s signals or additional functions.

Measuring 24 x 97 x 20 mm and weighing just about 20 g, the compact 6 Way Symbol Cluster CAN module fits easily into small vehicle or machine cabs. It can be operated in a voltage range of 8 to 32 VDC, and requires between 25 and 100 mA when in full use. The module has an operating temperature range of -30 °C to +80 °C.

The module offers 6 LEDs, a digital ‚low side‘ output and a digital input, all are freely addressable from the CAN bus. Thanks to the use of polyester membrane as a front layer, the symbols and colors can be customised, on demand.

Numerous configuration options

The CAN-based 6 Way Symbol Cluster can be configured using WE Flasher Tool, a configuration application from Würth Elektronik ICS which is used to upload the settings onto the device. Boot-up LED activation, CAN timeout behaviour and LED dimming/activation are amongst of the parameters that can be set. The 150 mA low-active output could be used to mute audio systems, activate buzzers or backlight a rocker switch. The 6 Way Symbol Cluster CAN can be easily integrated into an existing CAN network. This can be done using available signals, or used as a slave to an electronic control unit (ECU).

Thanks to fully programmable CAN communication with an 11- or 29-bit identifier, a freely configurable bit position for LED control and a selectable bus speed of 100/125/250/500/1000 kbps, the display module is well-suited for a wide variety of applications. A MPC3 connector with a mechanical lock on the back of the module assures a reliable connection.

Personalised service and advice

The 6 Way Symbol Cluster CAN is part of the WEcabin Solutions product line from Würth Elektronik ICS.
