DigiKey Sponsors Formula Bharat 2026 Annual Student Engineering Competition

Contest celebrates the collaboration and hands-on innovation of India’s brightest engineers

BENGALURU, India – DigiKey, the global distribution leader of electronic components and automation products, announces its third consecutive year of sponsorship of the Formula Bharat student engineering competition. The Platinum level sponsorship supports the competition as it empowers student teams with global engineering tools and advanced technology resources.

Formula Bharat, which takes place at the Kari Motor Speedway in Coimbatore, India, from Jan. 21-26, 2026, is an engineering design competition in which students from colleges and universities all over the country compete with life-size Formula-style racing vehicles. Students design, determine cost and marketability and ensure dynamic performance of their vehicles as part of the competition. The series replicates the global student Formula series, which is hosted in 11 countries annually.

DigiKey representatives will be on-site Jan. 24-25 to engage with participants and share information about the company’s online tools and resources available to students and makers in India. This builds on the competition’s ethos of hands-on education, which encourages them to design, test and iterate on high-performance vehicles under real-world technical constraints. Attendees will also have the opportunity to participate in a best-idea submission contest hosted at the DigiKey booth. Prizes include STMicroelectronics STM32 development tools.
