At the CES 2026 technology show in Las Vegas, Intel introduced its next-generation PC processor family, codenamed Panther Lake, marking a critical step in the company’s turnaround strategy. The new chips, branded Intel Core Ultra Series 3, are the first high-volume products manufactured using Intel’s advanced 18A process technology, which features a new transistor architecture and improved power delivery.

Intel stated that the latest processors deliver major performance and efficiency gains compared to the previous Lunar Lake generation, with notable improvements in CPU, graphics, and AI-focused workloads. The company aims to position Panther Lake as a strong choice for premium laptops, offering better battery life and enhanced on-device artificial intelligence capabilities.

Beyond traditional PCs, Intel also revealed plans to extend Panther Lake designs into handheld gaming PCs, signalling its intent to expand into emerging computing segments. The launch is closely watched by investors and industry observers, as it represents a key test of Intel’s ability to execute on its manufacturing roadmap after recent challenges.

The announcement comes amid intense competition at CES, with rival chipmakers also showcasing new AI-centric processors, underscoring the rapidly evolving and highly competitive PC semiconductor market.
