Introduction

Coding, also known as programming, has rapidly grown in importance and now plays a major role in controlling  electronic devices, computer systems, games, and applications. Almost every modern electronic device operates using code.

As the demand for technology increases, the need for coding-related jobs also grows. This makes it an excellent time for beginners to learn programming skills. Coding is the process of writing instructions using a programming language. Each line of code tells the computer to perform a specific task. A complete set of instructions written together is called a program or script.

What is Coding?

Coding is the use of computer languages to develop software, websites, and mobile applications. Social media platforms, smartphones, blogs, and games cannot function without code. Software engineers, developers, programmers, and coders write code using computers and development tools to create applications and systems.

There are many programming languages available today. Each language has its own syntax, commands, and structure designed for specific purposes. Some of the most commonly used programming languages include:

How Does Coding Work?

Every computer understands only machine language, also known as binary code. Binary code consists of 0s and 1s, which represent the on/off states of transistors. Computers cannot think or decide on their own. Programmers write instructions using programming languages, which are then converted into machine code that the computer can understand and execute.

Learning machine language directly is possible but difficult. Therefore, high-level programming languages were developed to make communication with computers easier. These programming languages translate human readable instructions into binary code so that the computer can perform tasks such as:

  • Displaying text or images
  • Processing numbers
  • Running applications
  • Playing audio or video

Coding challenges help programmers improve their problem-solving and logical thinking skills. Many online platforms provide coding practice and competitive programming opportunities.
