Avnet and its business units Avnet Abacus, Avnet Silica, and EBV Elektronik will present the latest products and solutions enabling engineers to design for the internet of things

Brussels, Belgium, 2nd November 2020 – Avnet (NASDAQ: AVT) today announced details of its presence at electronica virtual 2020, which is being held as a digital event between 9-12 November 2020. In a consolidated booth, each of the individual business units within Avnet’s EMEA organisation – Avnet Abacus, Avnet Silica and EBV Elektronik – will highlight their unique offerings and resources available to support customers in developing IoT technologies and applications. EBV will also host an additional booth, dedicated to showcasing its digital resources. Parent company Avnet EMEA will present Avnet’s IOT Connect Platform.

Highlights of the topics to be covered by each of the business units include:

Avnet Abacus

Avnet Abacus, a leading interconnect, passive, electro-mechanical and power distributor, will be focusing on how Industrial IoT applications drive business value. As manufacturers prepare for the widespread implementation of Industrial IoT, there are still many questions around the move from proof-of-concept to real world deployment. With the conversation shifting from the ‘what’ to the ‘how’, Avnet Abacus will present its ‘Industrial IoT Trend Guide’, which looks at the key applications of IoT in manufacturing, identifying the different ways in which these innovations are delivering real business value.

Avnet Silica

Avnet Silica, a leading semiconductor distributor for embedded and industrial applications, will be exploring topics from the latest edition of Smart Industry – its IoT business magazine. This includes strategies for successful IoT transformation, and insights into present and future trends. The magazine is available in print and digital format, with a supporting newsletter and Podcast.

EBV Elektronik

EBV Elektronik, a leading specialist in EMEA semiconductor distribution, will introduce the latest in its series of connected Heracles modules designed to simplify the IoT design process. Also highlighted will be content from two key resources the business unit provides to support its customers and the industry at large. ‘The Quintessence’ is a knowledge magazine, in digital format, containing news and information from independent specialist authors and technical experts. The electronica virtual 2020 issue will focus on ‘Passion for Technology’. ‘MIP – Marketing Innovative Products’ brochure published on the EBV web portal in pdf format, and now available through a web app, which presents a snapshot of the most innovative components selected by EBV experts. The theme for the electronica virtual 2020 issue is ‘smart living’.

Avnet EMEA

At electronica virtual 2020, Avnet EMEA will showcase its IoTConnect platform and associated programs, which offer unique capabilities to help IoT developers build and scale full IoT solutions. The platform is powered by Microsoft’s Azure IoT suite and allows critical IoT devices, assets and systems to be connected securely. Its flexibility allows users to scale IoT solutions for mass distribution with powerful security and connectivity protocols. The Avnet IoT Partner Program enables system integrators and OEMs to build new solutions and service models based on the IoTConnect platform.
