  • This photoelectric device emits light from the transmitter and detects the color of reflected light from an object with a receiver called a color sensor.
  • It detects the intensity of reflected light received by an object and differentiated the primary color like red, green, and blue.

  • The color sensor is also called a color detector.
  • It determines the ratio of the intensity of light received by an object.
  • The color sensor illuminated the object board wavelength and determine the three primary colors in the receiver.

Working of Color Sensor

  • The color sensor is used to sense or detect purpose in different areas, this device contains a transmitter, receiver, filter, array, LED, and the target object.
  • From the transmitter, the bright red light is emitted to the target object this bright red light is reflected and blue light is absorbed.
  • This reflected light is determined by the filter used in this sensor.

  • The color sensor transmitter emits light and the receiver received light in the form of an RGB scale in a different wavelength.
  • If contain red, blue, and green light wavelengths shown in the red light source then only red light is reflected.
  • If these three primary colors emit on a white light source then all three colors are reflected in the output.

Applications of Color Sensor

  • It’s used to grade colored products, distinguish coded markings, and detect the presence of adhesives or data codes on a package.
  • This technology is used in various industries such as textile, automation, automotive, food, printing, pharmaceutical, etc.
  • It can also be programmed to identify any one color or multiple colors for sorting applications.
  • It is used for monitoring color changes in plastic and has much more applications.
