- Pin 1 – LED1 to LED10: These pins are connected to the LEDs that have to be operated.
- Pin 2 – V− (Ground): Ground pin of the integrated circuit.
- Pin 3 – V+ (Vcc): Supply voltage ranging from 3V to 18V.
- Pin 4 – RLO: Low-level reference voltage used in the potential divider circuit.
- Pin 5 – Signal Input: Analog signal input pin that controls the LED display.
- Pin 6 – RHI: High-level reference voltage used in the potential divider.
- Pin 7 – Ref Out: Reference output voltage used for limiting LED current.
- Pin 8 – Ref Adj: Reference adjust pin used to set reference voltage.
- Pin 9 – Mode: Used to select operating mode (Dot Mode or Bar Mode).
Operating Modes
The LM3914 can operate in two display modes:
- Dot Mode: Only one LED glows at a time depending on the input signal level.
- Bar Mode: Multiple LEDs glow to form a bar according to the signal range.
