Murata to Sponsor the NFC Photobook Project by Yuima Nakazato at Paris Haute Couture Week 2026 – Supporting the creation of a new customer experience using RFID technology

Hoofddorp, Netherlands, 8 July 2026: Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. will sponsor the NFC*¹ Photobook Project by fashion designer Yuima Nakazato at Paris Haute Couture Week 2026, which will be held in Paris, France, from Monday, July 6, to Thursday, July 9, 2026.

The project is a new initiative that seamlessly links the photobook – featuring photos taken by Nakazato during a visit to the Canary Islands to gain inspiration for his work – with footage from the fashion show. This is achieved by embedding RFID*² tags in the photobook. As part of the sponsorship, Murata will provide the RFID tags to be embedded in the limited edition photobook that will be handed out to visitors at the Event.

NFC is a type of RFID technology that enables information to be accessed wirelessly by simply holding a smartphone or other device over an NFC tag.

The limited edition photobook that will be given to visitors at the Event will be embedded with RFID tags provided by Murata. Visitors can simply hold their smartphone over the photobook to access the event’s dedicated website and continue exploring the collection and related content long after the fashion show has finished.

Instead of displaying a 2D barcode on the page for scanning, the Project features RFID tags embedded in the photobook as a gateway to digital content, thereby preserving the aesthetic of the photobook itself. By embedding RFID tags directly into the photobook, the project preserves its visual design while creating a seamless link between the physical and digital experience.

Yuima Nakazato, whom Murata is sponsoring for this event, is exploring new possibilities for materials and technologies through the use of cutting-edge technology in the fashion industry and partnerships with companies that possess such technologies. This aligns closely with Murata’s efforts to apply its expertise in electronic components and communication technologies to create new experiential value across a wide range of industries.

RFID technology is increasingly being used as a means of connecting physical objects and information in a wide range of fields, including manufacturing, logistics, and retail. Murata’s RFID tags have also been used in the fashion industry to improve traceability in logistics, to authenticate products, and to manage distribution channels outside the official channels.

Murata will continue working with partners to explore new applications for its electronics components and communication technologies, creating innovative experiences that address evolving market needs across a wide range of industries.

*¹ NFC: Abbreviation for Near Field Communication, a short-range wireless communication technology that uses a frequency of 13.56 MHz and has a communication distance of a few centimeters.

*² RFID: Abbreviation for Radio Frequency Identification, a system in which RF tags containing product information are attached to items, enabling the contactless exchange of data.
