Tessenderlo-Ham, Belgium, 15 September 2026 – Melexis today announced a key milestone in its regional growth strategy, turning its China localization roadmap into real silicon. Demonstrating its commitment to one of the world’s leading electrification markets, Melexis introduces the MLX91241 current sensor, its first integrated circuit (IC) produced through a localized manufacturing model in China.

Executing the strategy: from presence to local production

China continues to set the pace for global electrification across electric vehicles (EVs), power conversion, and renewable energy management. To match the speed and requirements of this market, Melexis previously outlined a localized strategy designed to expand its footprint through local logistics and end-to-end local manufacturing.

The introduction of the MLX91241 serves as tangible proof of progress. By aligning production with regional supply chains, Melexis offers local customers faster development cycles, cost-optimized solutions, and supply continuity, all backed by the strict quality standards for which Melexis is known.

Strategy focus: leading with advanced current sensing

Current sensing was chosen as the inaugural product line for local production due to China’s leading role in high-power electrification. Monitoring current flow safely and efficiently is vital across powertrains and energy platforms.

The new MLX91241 is a high-speed, conventional Hall-effect current sensor IC built for high-power monitoring in fast-moving electrification systems. Engineered specifically for demanding applications like EV traction inverters, 48 V boost recuperation, DC-DC converters, and solar inverters, it translates Melexis’ proven magnetic sensing expertise into a cost-optimized, locally produced package that meets the speed and quality demands of the Chinese market.

“The MLX91241 puts silicon on the table and demonstrates our long-term commitment to the Chinese market,” said Bruno Boury, Product Line Director at Melexis. “Starting with current sensing was a natural choice given China’s leadership in EV and energy applications. This launch demonstrates our localized strategy is fully operational, bringing regional supply-chain alignment without compromising on the quality discipline our customers expect. And this is just the first of more locally produced silicon to come.”

Engineering samples of the MLX91241 are available now. As the first product developed under Melexis’ localized strategy, it paves the way for a broader portfolio of locally manufactured solutions.
