Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has launched services based on India’s first fully indigenous 4G (5G-ready) stack, developed by C-DoT (core), Tejas Networks (radio access) and integrated by TCS. Over 92,000 4G sites have already been commissioned nationwide, connecting 22 million citizens, with two million experiencing digital access for the first time. The network is currently handling nearly four petabytes of data daily.
This indigenous stack—built in just 22 months—is cloud-native, modular, and future-proof for seamless 5G upgrades. It ensures secure communications, supports rural and tribal connectivity, and has enabled BSNL to post profits after 17 years. The initiative strengthens India’s digital sovereignty and supply chains while generating employment and positioning the nation as a global telecom innovator under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat vision.
