  • ESP8266 is Wi-Fi is a system on chip (SoC) module developed by Espressif system.
  • It is mostly used for the development of the Internet of Things (IoT) embedded applications.
  • The ESP8266 is a low-cost Wi-Fi microchip with a full TCP/IP stack and microcontroller capability produced by Shanghai-based Chinese manufacturing company Espressif Systems.
  • The ESP8266 is capable of either hosting an application or offloading all the Wi-Fi networking functions from another application processor.

PIN Configuration

  • RX: Serial Receiver Pin
  • Vcc: Power Pin (+3.3 V; can handle up to 3.6 V)
  • GPIO 0: General-purpose I/O No. 0
  • RST: Reset
  • CH_PD: Chip power-down
  • GPIO 2: General-purpose I/O No. 2
  • TX: Serial Transmitter Pin
  • GND: Ground
