Bengaluru, Karnataka, January 27th, 2026 : Applied Materials India Private Limited, a subsidiary of Applied Materials, Inc., the global leader in materials engineering solutions for the semiconductor industry, Today inaugurated its new 8.06 lakh square-foot workplace at the International Tech Park Bengaluru (ITPL), in the presence of Ms. Gunjan Krishna, IAS, Commissioner for Industrial Development and Director, Department of Industries & Commerce, Government of Karnataka. The new facility underscores Applied Materials’ commitment to supporting India’s semiconductor mission while setting new benchmarks for sustainable and inclusive workplace design.
Commenting on the new workplace, Mr. Priyank Kharge, Minister for Electronics, IT & BT and Rural Development & Panchayat Raj, Government of Karnataka, said, “Applied Materials’ new campus adds to Karnataka’s strength as India’s No.1 ESDM hub and a leading chip design cluster. Investments like this signal strong confidence in our semiconductor prowess and in the strength of our policy framework. With a strong focus on R&D and innovation, Karnataka’s semiconductor ecosystem is steadily moving up the value chain and strengthening India’s journey toward becoming a product nation.”
‘’Our new Bengaluru facility embodies our commitment to fostering collaboration, innovation, and excellence,” said Avi Avula, President, Applied Materials India. “This investment comes at a pivotal moment for India’s rapidly advancing semiconductor ecosystem. The campus represents a significant step forward in our India journey, strengthening our capabilities in R&D, product engineering, and co-innovation with partners across industry and academia.”
Art and technology are central to the building’s design and guide everyday movement throughout the space. A three-dimensional Sand to Silica installation anchors the ground floor, introducing our materials engineering story. As employees and visitors move through the building, they encounter curated installations featuring rare and diverse Indian art forms such as Channa Patna lacquerware, Thikri mirror mosaics, and loin loom weaving. Each design element has been thoughtfully chosen, creating a seamless dialogue between technology and culture.
Sustainability has been embedded from the outset targeting USGBC LEED Gold certification. The design emphasizes natural daylight, biophilic elements, and the use of responsible and recycled materials. Efficient energy and water management systems, along with climate-responsive design strategies, help reduce environmental impact while supporting employee comfort and wellbeing. The workplace has also been designed with inclusion and wellbeing at its core. A variety of settings support focused work, collaboration, recovery, and informal interaction, creating an environment that balances productivity with physical and mental wellbeing, while fostering a strong sense of community.
Applied’s key capabilities in India include the India Validation Center, the country’s only facility capable of processing 300mm wafers, which is a key hub for equipment product design, simulation, testing, and validation, along with an advanced clean-room facility (Class 1K) for high-precision inspection, prototyping, and component qualification. These are complemented by the AI Centre of Excellence in Chennai, where advanced analytics and AI are used to support high-volume manufacturing through automation, improve throughput, and refine equipment design. Together, these facilities and capabilities, including the new workplace at ITPL, underscore Applied Materials’ commitment to be an integral part of strengthening India’s semiconductor ecosystem.
