There are some advantages of point contact diode which are given below,

  • It is widely used in microwave mixers and detectors.
  • It has very low junction capacitance.
  • It has very low forward resistance.
  • It has very low reverse resistance.
  • It is Ideal for low signal applications.

Disadvantages:

There are some disadvantages of point contact diode which are given below,

  • It has low breakdown voltage.
  • It’s V-I characteristics do not remain constant.
  • It produces high electric noise.
  • It has low breakdown voltage.
  • It cannot withstand very high power.
