Location: Electronica India, Bengaluru | September 17–19, 2026
At electronica India 2026, Hari Ram J, Country Head – ISA (India & South Asia) at Pico Technology, joined Semiconductor For You at the partner booth of channel distributor TechnoCorp Pivot Limited to discuss the growing shift toward PC-based oscilloscopes, data loggers, and RF testing equipment across India’s booming tech sectors.
Below is the video interview alongside key takeaways and highlights from the conversation:

Key Interview Highlights
1. Redefining Oscilloscopes with PC-Based Portability
Traditional benchtop oscilloscopes with heavy integrated displays are increasingly giving way to compact, highly portable PC-based solutions. Connecting directly to a laptop, Pico Technology’s equipment allows engineers to manage measurements, waveforms, current, and voltage (via differential probes) entirely through soft-controlled interfaces without sacrificing performance.
“We come up with a new solution which is really handy… You connect this equipment to the laptop, and everything is controlled over software.” — Hari Ram J
2. Expanding the RF & Data Logging Portfolio
Beyond oscilloscopes, Pico Technology showcased its latest vector network analyzers (VNAs) and data loggers designed for precision testing:
-
Vector Network Analyzers (VNAs): Highlighted 2-port VNAs for cable loss and wiring measurements, with a new single-port VNA launching within the month.
-
Data Loggers: Showcased multi-channel solutions, including current/temperature loggers and an 8-channel temperature data logger for thermal testing.
3. The Shift in India’s T&M Market: From Benchtop to USB-Based
Historically, the Indian test and measurement (T&M) market favored bulky benchtop equipment. However, Indian engineers are rapidly transitioning to USB-based setups due to two major drivers:
-
Portability: Field engineers and lab personnel can easily carry advanced diagnostic power anywhere in a laptop bag.
-
Speed & Data Transfer: By utilizing high-speed USB 3.0 interfaces, data transmission to laptops surpasses traditional Ethernet speeds.
