EWskills Launches EWsim.io – A Free Browser-Based Circuit Simulator

The new simulation platform EWsim.io combines real-time analog and digital circuit simulation with firmware execution across AVR, PIC, 8051, and Arduino — entirely in the web browser, at no cost.

Pune, India — July 2026. EWskills, the Industry focused skill-building platform for electronics and embedded engineers, has announced the launch of EWsim.io, a browser-based mixed-signal circuit simulator that executes microcontroller firmware. The tool is free to use, requires no installation, and is aimed at Engineers, students, educators, hobbyists, and Makers.

Developed by the team behind ElectronicWings, the decade-old hardware developer community, EWsim positions itself as the most capable free browser-based simulator available today- combining analog and digital simulation, multi-family MCU support, and hardware-debugger-grade visibility into running firmware.

Analog and Digital, on One Canvas

Unlike most browser simulators, which focus on digital logic or microcontroller pin states, EWsim simulates analog and digital circuits together in real time. Users can build BJT amplifiers, op-amp circuits, 555 timer designs, and power stages, and watch voltages, currents, and waveforms update live as the circuit runs.

The simulation engine computes at picosecond resolution and models circuit behaviour in the analog domain throughout. This allows EWsim to represent controllers pins characteristics like- GPIO source and sink currents, internal pin resistance, voltage drops, etc- bringing simulated behaviour close to real hardware.

The component library spans more than 200 parts, including passives, transistors, MOSFETs, op-amps, voltage regulators, optocouplers, relays, keypads, rotary encoders, character and graphical LCDs, OLED and TFT displays, and a wide range of sensors such as ultrasonic, DHT, DS18B20, and RTC modules.

Four Microcontroller Families, Real Compilation

EWsim runs actual firmware on virtual microcontrollers across four families:

  • Arduino (UNO, MEGA, NANO) via the Arduino CLI toolchain, with native support for thousands of Arduino libraries
  • AVR (ATmega and ATtiny) compiled with AVR-GCC and simulated with SimAVR
  • PIC (PIC10F, PIC12F, PIC16F) using an industry-standard C compiler
  • 8051 using a standard open-source compiler

A built-in code editor and server-side compiler let users write, compile, and simulate in one place. Every supported controller can also be simulated from a pre-built .hex file, and multiple microcontrollers can be simulated simultaneously on a single canvas. Support for ESP32 and ARM controllers is under development, with QEMU integration in progress.

Debugging Like Real Hardware

The feature that most clearly separates EWsim from existing browser tools is its debugging depth. For AVR and Arduino targets, EWsim provides GDB-based debugging: breakpoints, single-stepping, and live inspection of every register, status flag, the program counter, RAM, Flash, EEPROM, and a disassembly view- the kind of low-level visibility engineers normally get only from a hardware debugger and JTAG probe.

Built-in virtual instruments- oscilloscope, logic analyzer, voltmeter, ammeter, frequency meter, probe, and serial terminal- cover DC measurement, waveform capture, digital timing analysis, and UART interaction without leaving the browser.

Built to Power EWskills- and Change How the Industry Learns

EWsim was built for a larger purpose: to power EWskills, the company’s free skill-building platform. The integration of the two is positioned as a game-changer for how the industry develops engineering skills.

With a real simulator underneath, EWskills will be able to offer structured, hands-on skill tracks that go far beyond code exercises- from electronic circuit design and filter design to controller driver development, bootloader design, and complete embedded application building. Every concept becomes a problem the learner designs, builds, simulates, and debugs- learning by building, which the company believes is the best way engineering skills are truly formed.
