ON sayThe ON FDMF8811 Bridge Power Stage module reduces the board area required by DC-DC converter designs by about one-third. Source: ON Semiconductors the advantage to the FDMF8811 module is that it reduces the board area required by DC-DC converter designs by about one-third compared to discrete offerings.

This helps engineers design smaller systems, especially when space is an issue. For designs where space isn’t a concern, the FDMF8811 module offers increased power delivery in existing board area.

The module is designed to work in cloud applications such as wireless base stations, power modules, or any on-board isolated DC-DC converter and industrial applications including motor drives, fans and HVAC.

ON says as cloud-based services accelerate in adoption, power management will grow to become a more needed area and this module along with other ON products enable an entire ecosystem in the cloud from smartphones to PCs to datacenter infrastructure.

ON says the FDMF8811 delivers efficiencies in excess of 97% in full-bridge 600 W applications and has been optimized to work with driver and MOSFET dynamic performance, system parasitic inductance and power MOSFET Rds(on).

The module is available now in a clip bond PQFN-36 package, priced at $3.50 per unit in 10,000 unit quantities.
