Partnership spans wafer fabrication, semiconductor assembly and test, technology collaboration, and ecosystem development to support long-term growth and supply chain resilience

Nijmegen, the Netherlands / New Delhi, India; September 17, 2026: Nexperia and Tata Electronics today announced a strategic partnership spanning semiconductor wafer manufacturing, assembly and test, technology collaboration, and innovation. The partnership establishes a framework for long-term cooperation across multiple stages of the semiconductor value chain and supports the growth ambitions of both companies while contributing to the development of a globally competitive semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem in India.

The partnership is structured around three areas:

1.     Front-end wafer fabrication

2.     Back-end assembly and test

3.     Technology and ecosystem development

As part of the front-end manufacturing collaboration, Nexperia and Tata Electronics are laying the groundwork for the production of Nexperia’s MOSFET portfolio at Tata Electronics’ upcoming 300mm semiconductor fab in Dholera, Gujarat.

In parallel, the partnership also includes collaboration on semiconductor assembly and test of Nexperia’s discrete semiconductor products at Tata Electronics’ packaging facility in Jagiroad, Assam. The alliance reflects the companies’ shared ambition to build a long-term manufacturing partnership that enhances manufacturing flexibility, strengthens supply chain resilience, and establishes scalable production pathways to support Nexperia’s future growth.

Stefan Tilger, interim CEO, Nexperia said, “Our collaboration with Tata Electronics brings together complementary strengths across technology, manufacturing and innovation, while supporting the broader development of semiconductor capabilities in India. This framework creates new opportunities for collaboration and reinforces our commitment to serving customers through a resilient and globally balanced manufacturing network.”

Beyond manufacturing, Nexperia and Tata Electronics are establishing a broader framework for collaboration in technology development, research, and ecosystem development initiatives. By combining Nexperia’s expertise in discrete, power, and analog semiconductors with Tata Electronics’ growing manufacturing capabilities, the companies seek to accelerate innovation and create long-term value for customers worldwide.

Achim Kempe, Chief Operations Officer, Nexperia, said, “This collaboration represents much more than manufacturing. By combining Nexperia’s semiconductor expertise with Tata Electronics’ growing manufacturing capabilities, we are establishing a long-term partnership that supports innovation, growth, and supply resilience across the semiconductor value chain. We believe this collaboration creates a strong foundation for future manufacturing, technology development, and ecosystem growth that will ultimately benefit customers around the world.”

Dr. Randhir Thakur, CEO & Managing Director, Tata Electronics, said, “We are thrilled to partner with Nexperia for manufacturing their products at our semiconductor facilities in Dholera and Jagiroad. This comprehensive partnership, spanning the semiconductor manufacturing value chain, represents an important step in Tata Electronics’ efforts to build a globally competitive, integrated semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem in India. Our collaboration also aligns with the growing technology and trade relationship between India and the European Union. As we work to strengthen semiconductor supply chains and foster innovation, alliances such as these will help unlock new opportunities for industrial cooperation, technology development, and long-term economic growth.”

For Tata Electronics, the partnership represents another important milestone in building a world-class semiconductor ecosystem in India. By bringing together advanced manufacturing capabilities, technology expertise, and global market access, the collaboration supports India’s position as an emerging semiconductor hub within the global value chain.

The company is building India’s first commercial semiconductor fab in Dholera, Gujarat, and the first indigenous semiconductor assembly and test facility in Jagiroad, Assam, with a combined investment of USD 14 billion, to serve global customers across critical sectors.

As demand for semiconductors continues to grow across automotive, industrial, consumer, energy, communications, and infrastructure applications, both companies recognize the importance of expanding semiconductor manufacturing capacity while creating resilient and geographically diversified supply chains.
